Crowns
Dental crowns are a cosmetic restoration designed to enhance the shape of a tooth or reinforce its structure. They are most commonly utilized for teeth that are fractured, worn down, or significantly affected by decay. Crowns function as "caps" that are cemented onto the existing tooth, providing full coverage of the portion above the gum line, effectively becoming the tooth's new outer surface. These restorations can be crafted from various materials, including porcelain, metal, or a combination of both; however, porcelain crowns are often preferred due to their ability to closely mimic the translucency and appearance of natural teeth while also offering considerable strength.
